OPERATING PRINCIPLE
Traditional home composters usually make the compost mass to pack airtight causing the composting process to slow down or even stop. Therefore, many composter models require mixing with a stick or special mixer to make the air flow inside the compost mass. However, in the Pikkuvihreä Tumbling Composter the problem is solved with a brilliant rolling design and carefully placed ventilation holes. All you need to do is rotate the drum – and air will flow in and the compost mass gets mixed. Hence the composting process is significantly more efficient and speedy. The tumbling composter even has special mixing spikes inside to mix the compost mass just perfectly.
The Tumbling Composter has sturdy wheels which make it easy to move around. The handle parts are made of metal in order to guarantee long-term use. The emptying is effortless, as you can just roll the composter to the emptying site, open the lid and turn the drum upside down.
Special attention has also been given to the color of the Tumbling Composter. The matt black color takes full advantage of sun’s natural heating power. During a warm summer day, the Tumbling Composter may heat up to 50 ° Celsius degrees making the kitchen waste to compost in matter of weeks.
Frequently asked questions
How large family can the volume serve?
This is a question for which it is difficult to give an exact answer, because there are many things that affect the composting process. The volume of the Tumbling composter is 190 liters and during summertime the composting has been fast. For a family of five, the composter has filled up half of its volume in 5 months and the compost mass looks very well degraded. Based on that, we could estimate that it suits a family of four or five people.
Does this suit for garden waste as well?
Yes – it does! All biological waste, except toilet waste, can be composted in the Tumbling composter.
How is it emptied?
Emptying is easy. Simply roll the composter to the emptying site, remove the lid, and turn around the composter.
Is it isolated?
The Tumbling composter is not isolated. Practically it works during non-freezing time. The black matte color helps a lot during springtime to awake the compost mass.
Can you temporarily store it e.g. in your garage?
Yes you can.
How long is the warranty of the product?
The Tumbling composter has one year warranty.
How will you deliver if I order online?
Delivery is free. The composter will be delivered either to your home or to a collect point depending on the country you are from.
