The Green Toilet 100 Easy spare container is an excellent accessory for the composting Green Toilet 100 Easy composting toilet. In family use, one spare container is usually sufficient, but for year-round use or when the number of users is higher than average, several spare containers may be needed. With spare containers, the capacity of the composting toilet can be increased virtually without limit.

Thanks to the spare container, servicing the Green Toilet 100 Easy is simple and quick. Non-decomposed toilet waste does not need to be handled or shoveled at all. Instead, the compost mass can be left to compost undisturbed in a full Green Toilet container while the other container is in use. When the second container fills up, the first one will most likely have fully composted into soil, which can be safely spread in a suitable area on the property.

Using the Green Toilet spare container

When the Green Toilet composting toilet container in use becomes full, it is taken out of service and replaced with an empty spare container. The closed lid of the spare container is placed on top of the full compost container. Correspondingly, the lid that was in use is fitted onto the empty spare container. The Green Toilet wheel set is transferred to the container that is being moved.

In Finland, toilet waste composts into finished soil in approximately 8–18 months, depending on climate conditions and the composition of the waste. The spare container should be stored in a sunny location, where warmth from the sun supports the composting process. A full compost mass in a Green Toilet spare container is completely odorless.

A few times a year, the compost mass can be aerated by poking holes into it or gently turning it with a garden fork. Aeration speeds up the composting process. Leachate from the toilet can also be poured into the spare container compost. The urea contained in the leachate accelerates composting and adds moisture, as the mass may dry out too much, especially during summer.

In winter, a full spare container may freeze, which does not cause any harm.
