The Ekohytte freezing toilet is an excellent choice for a comfortable indoor toilet without the need for water. It is very easy to install and requires no ventilation pipes or wall penetrations – simply plug it into a standard power outlet.
Freezing stops all microbial activity, completely preventing odor formation. Thanks to its compact size, the Ekohytte fits perfectly even in small spaces and works well on top of underfloor heating.

The Ekohytte freeze toilet is used just like a regular WC – only without flushing. Both solid and liquid waste, as well as toilet paper, end up in the same 21-liter waste container protected by a biodegradable liner bag. No bulking material is needed. When the container is full, it can be easily removed and emptied into the compost.

The Green compost bin features a double-base structure that functions like a self-watering flowerpot: excess liquid drains out but is partially reabsorbed into the compost through capillary action. This keeps the compost at an optimal moisture level and ensures effective composting.

Use and maintenance

The Ekohytte is easy to keep clean – simply wipe the surfaces with a damp cloth and a mild cleaner.
The waste container can be fully removed and washed with water when needed. The toilet can also be stored in freezing temperatures when unplugged, but during use, the space should remain warm.
