Why a Second Container Is Worth Having
The standard Green Toilet Compact Lux package includes one composting container. With a second container, maintenance is never dependent on timing: when the container in use becomes full, simply replace it with an empty one and leave the full container outdoors to compost undisturbed. This means you never have to handle fresh toilet waste.
We particularly recommend a second container for year-round use and for locations with several users. If you already have a composter suitable for toilet waste, the standard package is sufficient on its own. However, additional containers extend the maintenance interval even further, and you can add more containers to the system whenever needed.
Changing the Container
The container slides straight out from underneath the waste chute and lid. The lid remains attached to the chute, so nothing else needs to be moved. Place the solid lid on the full container and move it outdoors to continue composting.
The container has sturdy handles on both sides and removable wheels, making it easy to carry and move even when full. The lids can be securely fastened in place, keeping the container safely closed and inaccessible to small children.
All maintenance takes place outdoors in the service space beneath the floor — nothing needs to be carried through the indoor living space.
The Same Design That Keeps the System Odour-Free
Inside the container is a perforated false bottom. Solid waste remains above it, while excess liquid drains through into the lower section of the double-bottomed container, which has its own outlet and hose for drainage.
The false bottom also works on a self-watering principle: its supports reach the liquid at the bottom, allowing the compost to draw moisture back up as needed. The result is a self-regulating moisture balance — neither too wet nor too dry.
Adapts to Your Space
The standard container height is 500 mm and can be cut down in 50 mm increments to 450 mm or 400 mm, allowing it to fit into lower spaces beneath the floor.
The taller the container, the longer the maintenance interval, so we recommend using the full height whenever space allows. Capacity is 100 litres at the standard 500 mm height, 88 litres at 450 mm and 76 litres at 400 mm.
The containers can be nested inside one another for easier transport and storage.
