Description

The replacement cassette is an accessory for the Green Toilet Lux indoor dry toilet. Typically, 1-2 replacement cassettes are required for family summer cottage use, depending on the frequency of use of the dry toilet. Thanks to the replacement cassette, there is no need to handle raw toilet waste compost at any point. The waste can easily be composted into soil in the cassette, after which it can be safely shoveled and spread wherever desired on the plot.

Using a replacement cartridge

When the cassette in use is full, it can be pulled out from under the toilet. The cover of the full cartridge is replaced with a sealed cover on top of the replacement cartridge. The empty cassette with the open lid can then be put into use under the waste pipe of the toilet. The full cassette is left to decompose until the next service round.

Toilet waste is fully composted in 8-18 months, depending on the environment and conditions. It is advisable to place the ful replacement cartridge in a sunny location, where it will receive the sun’s heat to aid composting. A few times a year, you can aerate the compost mass by poking holes in it or by slightly turning the mass with a pallet. Aeration speeds up the composting process. The leachate from the toilet can also be poured into the compost of the replacement cassette. The urea contained in the leachate accelerates composting and moistens the mass, which may dry out too much, especially in the summer.

A full cartridge can freeze in the winter, and there is no harm in doing so.
