Description

During the cold season, the temperature in the composter can drop so low that the activity of microbes breaking down material weakens. This happens when the temperature of the composter drops below +10°C. The composter can also freeze, and then it fills up quickly.

The lack of heat produced by biomass is the most common reason for the cooling of the compost. Excessive moisture in the composter also cools it down. If you want to compost in winter, you need an insulated composter.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

The heater is suitable for all the most common thermal composters available on the market. The device can also be used in composting dry toilets to prevent freezing. Use for other purposes is prohibited.

The heater is installed inside the composter. It can be kept inside the composter all year round or used only during the coldest time of the year. The location of the heater can be moved inside the compost during composting.

The SULA composter heater’s power is kept on only when necessary. This way, electricity consumption is minimized. The heater is kept on for 1–2 days to thaw the compost, or until steam rises from the compost when the lid is opened. When the compost cools, the heater can be on for ½–1 day.
